1969 B&Q was established by Richard Block and David Quayle and the primary store opened in Portswood, Southampton. 1979 the Company had gone public; 26 stores in function. 2002 B&Q opened its first store in the Republic of Ireland. B&Q opened its most eco shop in New Malden, London which will be at least 50% more competent in its carbon emissions as compared to rest of B&Q stores.
